Help & contact

The most common questions, answered honestly. Can't find yours? Write to hallo@gymi-champ.ch — we usually reply within 24 hours.

Getting started

How do we get started as a family?

Gymi Champ is currently invitation-only: with your invitation link you create a parent account (email + password) and consent to your child using the platform.

Then you add your child in the parent area — they get a username (e.g. mira-4821) and a password, no email address of their own needed. Your child signs in with these on any device.

The best first step for your child: the placement check («Standortbestimmung», under «Lernen») — about 15 tasks that adapt to their level. After that, the learning plan knows where to start.

Note: the child-facing app is deliberately in German — the exam is in German.

Account & family

How does my child sign in — and what if they forget their password?

Your child signs in with their username (e.g. mira-4821) and password — on the normal sign-in page, no email needed.

Forgot the password? You reset it as a parent in 10 seconds: parent area → child accounts → «Passwort zurücksetzen» (reset password). No email is sent to the child — you set the new password directly.

I forgot my parent password.

On the sign-in page you'll find «Passwort vergessen» (forgot password) — you'll receive a link by email and can set a new password.

No email arriving? Check your spam folder and make sure you're using the email address of your parent account. Still stuck? Write to hallo@gymi-champ.ch — we'll help personally.

We have several children — does that work?

Yes. In the parent area you can add more children via «Kind hinzufügen» — each gets their own account and learning record, and your weekly report shows them separately.

When buying a pass later, the sibling price applies (+CHF 190 instead of a full second pass).

What is the weekly report — and can I unsubscribe?

Every Sunday evening you receive a short email: what your child practised this week, where they're strong, where calm practice would help — and exactly ONE concrete parent action for the week. No pressure, no comparison with other children.

You can pause or reactivate it anytime in the parent area («Bericht per E-Mail»). The email only arrives if your child actually practised. If your language is set to English, the report arrives in English.

Learning & method

How does Gymi Champ choose the tasks?

The app aims for the learning zone: tasks hard enough to learn from, but easy enough to keep a sense of success (target: around 75% success rate). Behind it are proven learning principles — retrieval practice, spaced repetition (due reviews resurface automatically), topic interleaving and targeted mistake re-tests («antibody checks»).

All tasks come from real Zurich entrance exams of the last 11 years. And importantly: every number in the app is honest — no polished curves, no promises of passing.

How does the Gymnasium entrance exam (ZAP) actually work?

In short, for the Langgymnasium: a written exam in German (language paper + essay) and mathematics; the school grade from 6th class («Vornote») also counts towards admission. The exam is on paper, no calculator.

The detailed, honest overview with all facts and dates: gymi-champ.ch/zap-guide (German). With the Vornoten calculator (gymi-champ.ch/vornoten-rechner) you can see which exam grade your child needs given their school grades.

Payment & vouchers

What does Gymi Champ cost?

We're currently in beta: invitation-only and free — and founding families stay free.

At launch: Endspurt Pass CHF 249 one-off (until the ZAP 2027), or Season Pass CHF 390 (from the 2027/28 season), siblings +CHF 190. For comparison: preparation courses cost CHF 1,000–4,000. There's a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked — but no promise of passing; honestly, nobody can give that.

How do I redeem a voucher — and how do I gift a pass?

Redeem: parent area → «Zugang & Gutschein» → enter the code (GYMI-XXXX-XXXX) → done. The pass activates immediately and is valid until one week after the exam.

Gifting (e.g. as grandparents): a short email to hallo@gymi-champ.ch — payment by invoice/bank transfer or TWINT, then you receive the voucher code to pass on.

Privacy & safety

What data do you collect about my child?

As little as possible: your child has no email address with us, just a first name and username. Learning data lives on our own server in Europe — no US cloud provider, no ads, no selling of data.

Voice and photo features (e.g. photo correction) are OFF by default and only become active once you enable them as a parent. You can export all data anytime or delete it completely (parent area → «Datenschutz & Daten»). The full plain-language overview: gymi-champ.ch/transparenz.

Technical

Can I install Gymi Champ as an app on the iPad/phone?

Yes — Gymi Champ is a web app and installs like a native one: on iPad/iPhone open it in Safari → share icon → «Add to Home Screen». On Android in Chrome → menu → «Install app».

After that, Gymi Champ starts like a normal app, full screen with its own icon.

Something doesn't load or looks broken — what now?

Almost always: reload the page (after an update an old version can linger in the cache). If that's not enough, close the browser tab and open Gymi Champ again.

If the problem persists: write to hallo@gymi-champ.ch, ideally with a screenshot and your device (e.g. «iPad, Safari») — we'll look into it, usually the same day.
